This first nations artifact was found in the creek that runs alongside Pkols (in Mount Douglas Park) in Victoria BC, back in the summer of 1997. At first it just looked like an interesting stone, but turned out to be much more significant. Its top is broken off which makes it hard to identify.
The Songhees people had a winter village many years ago, only 3.5 kms up the coast from the creek where this was found. As Truth and Reconciliation is very important in Canada, it’s my intention to return this artifact to the rightful First Nation where it belongs.
